Q:How is TJJ so affordable?

A:

TJJ is the most affordable all-inclusive, one-month trip to Israel for Jewish teens. NCSY is able to offer this trip at such a low price thanks to generous donors who created TJJ to ensure that any teen can build a connection with their heritage and their homeland.

Q:What if I don’t know anyone on TJJ?

A:

Don’t worry! You’ll make friends! Everyone on the trip is so friendly and open and willing to talk and share their stories. By the first shabbat of the trip, every “stranger” became a member in a TJJ Bus family

Q:What are the advisors and staff like on TJJ?

A:

Molly (Albany, NY): The staff on TJJ were exceptional. They helped me connect to my Judaism by holding meaningful and caring conversations with me.

Q:What’s the safety and security like on TJJ?

A:

Every bus is provided with a medic, guard, and guide so you have fun but are always protected!

Q:I am not religious. Will I feel comfortable on this trip?

A:

Of course you’ll feel comfortable on this trip! Everyone comes from all different backgrounds–some with a knowledge of Judaism, some stronger than others. Some teens also came with hardly any background knowledge of Judaism–they only knew that they were Jewish. You’ll grow like you’ve never expected!

Q:Do I have to be part of JSU to go on TJJ?

A:

TJJ is open to JSU members and non-members alike. The ratio of members to non-members tends to be nearly half/half, so non-members do not have to worry about ever feeling left out.

Q:I filled out the form to reserve a spot on TJJ. What happens now?

A:

One of our friendly staff members will reach out to you shortly to tell you more about the trip and see if you qualify. You can always contact us if you have more questions.

Q:What Airline does TJJ use?

A:

TJJ exclusively uses EL AL airlines when traveling to and from Israel.

Q:Can I make my own flight arrangements or extend my trip?

A:

Yes. To extend a ticket, you will need to contact the Summer Programs team. He or she will give you the direct email address for our travel agent who will make the accommodations. Program Associates cannot arrange flights. Note: Any additional fees associated with the change are the responsibility of the program participant.

Q:I have food issues, can you accommodate me?

A:

If you have any dietary limits please contact one of the summer programs team members and they will make sure to accommodate you.

Q:Traveling with friends? How does rooming work?

A:

Each bus director is in charging of housing. He will take requests and and accommodate your personal needs during TJJ.

Q:Do you have any packing advice? Can I do laundry?

A:

After Passover you will receive a information packet that will include a detail packing list along with tips. Laundry is done bi weekly on TJJ.

Q:Can family/friends visit me during the trip?

A:

You will be able to spend free time with your family members or friends during the free weekend.

Q:Will I have any free time during the trip?

A:

The only free time you will have, will be on the free weekend.

Q:How do I keep in touch with friends & family back home?

A:

There will be cell phone rental service required through a third party. There will also be an emergency number that will be accessible at all times.

Q:Once the program has started, whom do I contact with problems or questions?
